Parish Ministries

Religious Education - CCD

Planting the seeds of faith in the hearts of our children and young adults is the goal of our Religious Education - CCD program. We are grateful to our dedicated volunteers.

All grades Sunday mornings from 10:15 to 11:30 am for classroom instruction.

Sunday Mass is the most important part of the religious education formation process. Families should worship together every weekend at Mass.

Readers

The Word of God comes alive as God speaks to His people especially in the Liturgy of the Word. Readers communicate God's Word on Sundays, holy days and weekdays. Persons in this ministry should have received Confirmation and are to be practicing Catholics. Training is offered to new readers. Contact: Father Tom 724-847-3538 hfp18001@verizon.net

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

A person in this ministry must be at least 18 years of age and a practicing Catholic. There is training for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion whether they help at Sunday Mass or visit the sick at home. There are periodic meetings for updates. Persons for this ministry are delegated by the bishop for this role for a period of three years. Contact: Father Tom 724-847-3538 hfp18001@verizon.net

Altar Servers

All students, entering grades 4 through 12, are invited to be part of the ministry of Altar Server. The schedule includes weekend Mass and Holy Days. Servers may also help with weddings, funerals and special occasions. Interested students attend training sessions and are then put on the regular schedule. Choir

Under the direction of Larry Tavlarides, our choir gives magnificent beauty to our liturgy. Rehearsals are usually on Tuesday evenings. To be part of this important ministry for the liturgy, please contact Larry Tavlarides at 412-609-9686.

New Brighton Soup Kitchen

The churches of New Brighton are cooperating together to serve lunch on Wednesdays and Thursdays at Christ Episcopal Church. Each church group takes a turn to prepare and serve lunch every four or five weeks. If you would like to help with this special project, please call Etta Moldovan at 846-4317.
